the disney experience

We held out for as long as possible, but with the promise of free admission with a cast member friend, we finally took Kai to Disney today. Specifically, to the amazing, and amazingly hot Animal Kingdom.

We did manage to get there right at opening time to beat the heat. Unfortunately, the heat did catch up to us after a couple hours. And yet it was a great experience. Kai absolutely had a blast, and was pretty manageable for a toddler. We met Erin's friend DeeDee and her daughter Aria, who is about eight months older than Kai. Thanks to DeeDee for hooking it up at the gate, because we could definitely not afford the admission. We could barely afford the parking. Seriously, $11 for parking is obscene.

While we left just after noon, as both of the kids were ready for their naps, and we probably really only saw 15 percent of the park today. And yet I thought we did get to see a good amount of the park and wildlife. The large male gorilla was captivating. The giraffes were beautiful, and the aviaries were exciting. Kai was fascinated with the African tribal drum performance, too. We probably would have had to stay until closing time just to see everything there was to see. Kai was talking about the animals all day. Kudos to Disney for an outstanding park that appeals to kids and adults alike. I'm looking to going back. In the winter.

And of course, about halfway there, Erin realizes that I forgot the camera.

And yes, finally everyone in our house is finally healthy again. Let's just say that last week where Kai, Isaac and I were all sick was a LONG week. And poor Erin, she might have been spared the virus but she had to take care of all of us. I don't know how she does it, but she does it better than anyone else could.
