progressions
It was time to do something. The other night, as I shampooed Kai's hair and combed it out, I noticed that his bangs nearly reached his chin. Erin grabbed the scissors, and armed with fresh hair-cutting advice from an expert stylist, she snipped his bangs to a much more manageable length. Kai barely blinked. The hair on the back of his head is equally long, as well, but thankfully it is curly back there so it doesn't lay there like a mullet. So for the first time in his life, at nearly 16 months old, Kai got his first hairs cut.
Coincidentally, he also has his first chest cold. It does seem quite minor, and his cute little coughs in the morning are productive, so we are not too worried. His spirits have not even been dampened. In fact, he has been in a better mood than ever lately, and learning at a quick clip. Perhaps it's because his lower molars have finally broken skin and started to come in.
The other day, I taught Kai the "How big are you?/So big!" game in just one day. That is good progress. He has also learned some new words and games with us. He never ceases to impress me. It also seems that Kai has a girlfriend at the YMCA. One of the little girls around his age has been flirting with him for the past month or so, holding his hand and kissing him and crying when we take him away. The other day he began to notice her and say her name. He even cried when Gigi's mom picked them up. That's my boy...
Today, we are going to Turkey Lake Park for a play-date with my friend Brent's daughter, who is about one month older than Kai. The last time Kai and Mimi were together, she slept almost the entire time and neither of them could walk or talk. So this should be fun. Photos to come...
